On a wintry afternoon in 1982, two teenagers collide on a London backstreet. One of them, Ash, is still smarting from the wounds inflicted on his family by the Brixton riots - especially on his dad, now forced to do odd-jobs for cash to appease his violent creditors.
The other teenager, Bridie - trash-talking and unpredictable - has only one thing on her mind: to become a heroine of the Irish resistance to British colonial rule.
Despite this clash of cultures, an unlikely, fragile bond forms between them. But when Bridie casually confides in Ash that the men she’s waiting for are IRA operatives robbing a nearby bank, Ash suddenly starts to suspect that his debt-laden father may have had the same idea…
